Peter Callesen was born in Copenhagen in 1967. He is a Danish artist and author. He creates his artwork with A4 paper in large-scale installations. Each of his works have only used one sheet of paper. He uses paper because he says it is "probably the most common and consumed media used for carrying information today," but we "rarely notice the actual materiality" of it. Callesen believes that it is a "material that we are all able to relate to" and at the same time it is "neutral and open to fill with different meaning." As he states, "The thin white paper gives the paper sculptures a frailty that underlines the tragic and romantic theme of my works."
The emotions in his artwork are very raw because of the little use of material. It is really easy to see what his goal was.
